bandcue can be had for nothing, and the part it exists for — a chord sheet that scrolls itself while both your hands are on the instrument — is free and stays free. An app whose one job is behind a paywall does not get installed twice.
So what keeps it maintained is not a lock. It is the people who pay for it when they did not have to.

Where the money goes
One person writes these apps. Most of what comes in goes on hosting — the servers behind the report screen, the supporters list and this site — and on the AI agents that help build and test them, which are metered by the hour and are the single largest line. The rest pays the Play developer account and the domain.
There are no ads in any of these apps, and there never will be. No analytics sold on, no “partner offers”, nothing bundled into an install. That is the trade this page is asking you to take part in: the money has to come from somewhere, and this is the only somewhere that does not cost you something you did not agree to.

One line of the right-hand column is not built yet — the watch remote — and it is named here because that is what the Pro tier is for when it is. Batch import, the widget and PDF attachments were on that list until 2026.9.1, and are not any more. Nothing that works today moves behind the paywall — that is a rule for the whole family, not a promise made on this page: nothing is ever taken away, and a feature an install was already using stays with it for good.
How to get on the list
Two ways to support bandcue, and both count the same here:
- bandcue Pro on Google Play, once the app is published there.
- A donation, any amount, through Ko-fi or card, Google Pay or PayPal. Nothing is unlocked in return: the build in the F-Droid repository has no paywall in it at all, so there is nothing left to unlock. It is a thank-you, not a purchase.
Then, in the app: Info → Support bandcue → Your name in the list.
- If you bought on Play, there is nothing to type. Play never tells an app who bought, so the app presents the purchase it is holding and asks only what you want to be called.
- If you donated, you type the address you donated with, and then either tap the link in the mail that arrives or copy the six digits out of it. That is what lets the service recognise the donation as yours; the address is never shown to anybody.
Both halves — whether to appear, and under what name — are yours to change whenever you like, from the same screen. Turning it off takes one tap and the name is gone from here on the next load.
When a donation has to be matched by hand
Ko-fi and Stripe both tell the service who donated, so those are recognised on their own, usually before you have finished opening the screen.
Some donations cannot be: one sent from an address other than the one you type, or made some other way entirely. Nothing is wrong when that happens — the service simply never saw an address it could match to yours.
So if that is you and you want to be named, write to apps@gpm.name with the name you want, and I match it by hand. Everything after that — changing the name, taking it down — works from the app like anybody else’s.
What this page holds, and what it does not
The names people chose, and nothing else. No address, no amount, no date, no ordering that means anything. Not appearing is the default, and it stays the default: the list only ever grows because somebody went and asked for it to.
